Eddie Smyth

Eddie is a director of Intersocial Consulting Ltd.

Eddie is social and resettlement expert with over 25 years’ experience working within the social and environmental sectors in 35+ countries in Asia-Pacific, Europe, South America and Africa.

Eddie has experience inn social impact and land access and resettlement planning, review and implementation across all the key sectors including private-sector/governmentment-led, mining, oil and gas, hydropower, urban resettlement and renewables. He has planned projects in 25 countries and conducted resettlement training in 17 countries with over 1,000 particpants. He has co-authored a key practioner handbook on land access and resettlement and published papers and guidance on Social Impact Assessment.

Eddie is a member of the board of the International Association of Impact Assessment (IAIA), a Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (FIEMA), and a founding member of the Social Practice Forum, group of industry experts promoting good practices. Eddie is also Chairperson of Umeras Community Development.
