Kate Giles

Lloyd A. Nelson Professor, University of Texas at El Paso; Consulting Geologist.

Kate worked with Exxon Production Research in Houston, then as a Geological Science Professor and Director of the Institute of Tectonic Studies at New Mexico State University before moving to her present position at UT-El Paso. Her principal research interests are salt tectonics; carbonate petrology and depositional systems, sequence stratigraphy and microbialites. Honors include the AAPG Shelton Search and Discovery Award, AAPG Distinguished Lecturer and NMSU Distinguished Career Award.
