Mark Cook

Mark has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1981, initially with Shell working as a reservoir engineer in a variety of locations world-wide, working on on exploration prospect evaluation, field development planning and production operations. He left Shell to co-found TRACS International, providing training and consultancy services to the industry. From 2004-2011 Mark managed the expansion of the TRACS business which covered offices in UK, Russia, and Oman. In addition to his training activity, Mark currently provides engineering and economics consultancy, reserves audit and project risk analysis.

He is co-author of the popular textbook “Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production” (2008) and author of “Petroleum Economics and Risk Analysis” (2021). He has toured as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer and has been guest lecturer in petroleum engineering at Aberdeen University, Heriot-Watt University and University College Dublin.
